Brief overview: "Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda" is a book set in Secondary School. It is a book about the hardship of being a teenager who is gay. The book opens with the main character being blackmailed by a fellow classmate called Martin Addison, when he finds some interesting emails between the main character and another person named Blue. He is scared of what would happen if his emails would be sent to the whole school. It's not realistic but still an interesting situation. It keeps you wondering if he will come out or if he will be forced to come out.

Characters: Simon Spier is the main character of "Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda". He is a very awkward person. He does not like confrontation or arguments. When he's with friends he is very open and friendly. He has two sisters, one older and one younger.

Blue is a boy in Simons school. He and Simon have been emailing each other for 5 months. Blue and Simon dont know each other's identitys. Both of them are gay. Blue is a very mysterious and secretive person. He tries very hard not to reveal his identity. As time goes by blue seems to be very funny and has his own sense of humour. He is also very scared to reveal his identity to Simon.

Martin is a boy in Simons school. He is the class clown in the school. He likes Simons friend. Her name is Abby. He blackmails Simon to get close to Abby. He also has a older brother.

My favourite character is blue. I feel like I understand and relate to him a lot. I like his mysterious personality. I really wanted to know who he is and how he looked like. I like how he can always find a positive from a negative. He always makes me laugh with his smart jokes.

Setting: The setting in this book is very similar to ours. It is set in a school called Creekwood. Creekwood is set in America hence why they call it a high school instead of a Secondary school. It does have more events like Gender Bender day.

The only difference in the book and real life is that being gay is not a good thing and you get bullied for being gay. Most of the teachers don't do anything about this.

Last words: This book was really insightful with what some people from the LGBT community have to deal with. This book has really shown the struggles of being gay and the fear. I really enjoyed the emotions it brought out of me. Anger, sadness and excitement. I loved how I could just feel the characters emotions and sympathies with their situation. I wish the book had more point of view of the straight characters. To see what they feel about it.
